Tony Charles
Systemic Psychotherapy

Introducing Tony

I’m Tony, a UKCP-registered Family & Systemic Psychotherapist, supervisor, and facilitator, with over 28 years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, and professionals across Children & Adult mental health, social care, and education.

My approach is rooted in systemic thinking, shaped by both personal and professional experiences. I offer a reflective, relational space tailored to your needs.

I’m passionate about supporting meaningful change, strengthening relationships, and creating spaces for understanding and growth.

Systemic Psychotherapy

Systemic Psychotherapy offers a way of understanding life through a broader, more relational lens. Rather than focusing only on the individual, it considers how our relationships, family dynamics, cultural backgrounds, and wider social contexts shape how we think, feel, and relate to others, and how distress or difficulty can arise within those systems.

This approach is particularly helpful when navigating complex or ongoing challenges, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, loss, identity questions, or the effects of trauma. It can support people living with mental health struggles to feel less pathologised and more understood within the context of their lives.

Grounded in trauma-informed principles, systemic therapy creates a safe, collaborative space to reflect without judgment. It supports people in making sense of emotional pain, understanding patterns that may no longer serve them, and gently exploring new ways forward, at their own pace.

Whether you’re coming as an individual, couple, family, or part of a wider group, systemic therapy can help untangle complexity, deepen connection, and create meaningful change.

What clients say

“As a therapist in training, I found Tony’s supervision to be reflective, grounding, and incredibly thoughtful.”

“Working with Tony as a family gave each of us a voice. It wasn’t always easy, but the space he held helped us talk openly, listen differently, and reconnect in a way we hadn’t for years.”

“Tony really helped me understand not just what I was feeling, but why. He created space for me to see patterns in my relationships and start changing them in ways I never thought possible.”

We were going through a really difficult separation, and I honestly didn’t think we’d ever be able to communicate again. The sessions helped us focus on what mattered – especially for the kids – and we now co-parent with far more respect and clarity.”
